Contact details and professional headline
Provide your name, a role-aligned professional title, a reliable email address, phone number, location at an appropriate level, and a relevant professional profile link. Full street addresses, photographs, dates of birth, and unrelated personal details are usually unnecessary unless a regional or sector-specific convention requires them.
Professional summary
Use three or four lines to establish professional level, area of expertise, relevant industry or functional context, and one or two credible strengths supported later in the CV. Avoid objectives focused only on what you want, broad claims such as hardworking, or a list of keywords without a coherent message.
Work experience and achievements
List recent and relevant positions in reverse chronological order. Give each role a clear title, employer, location where useful, and consistent dates. Bullet points should prioritize contribution and outcome. Older or less relevant roles can be summarized so the reader’s attention stays on evidence closest to the target position.
Education and qualifications
Include the qualification, institution, and completion date or expected date. Early-career applicants may add relevant modules, projects, awards, or strong results. Experienced professionals can usually keep education concise and give more space to recent work, certifications, and specialist development.
Skills, tools, and certifications
Choose skills that are relevant and defensible. Technical tools, methodologies, languages, licences, and current certifications are more informative than unsupported soft-skill lists. Wherever possible, demonstrate important skills in experience bullets so the reader can see how and where they were applied.
Optional evidence that adds value
Projects, publications, presentations, volunteering, memberships, portfolios, awards, and languages can distinguish an application when they support the role. Do not add sections simply to fill space. A shorter document with stronger evidence is more useful than a longer one built from low-relevance detail.
